The Queensland Government just announced the details of the long-awaited 2024 solar battery rebate. Queensland hasn’t had one of these rebates since 2019. This has meant that solar batteries in Brisbane have been pricier than in states like Victoria which have had a rebate scheme running since that time. However, the new Battery Booster program means solar batteries for Brisbane homes just became a much more feasible investment for more Queenslanders.
Rebates Available
Standard – A rebate up to $3,000 is available for applicants with an income of less than $180,000 for the most recently ended financial year. If the applicant has a spouse, the combined income of the applicant and the applicant’s spouse must not have exceeded $180,000 for the most recently ended financial year.
Low-Income – A rebate up to $4,000 is available for households where the highest income earner earned $66,667 or less for the most recently ended financial year.
How the Rebate Works
The Battery Booster program provides rebates to help you install a home battery system. If you are eligible, the rebates will offset the upfront cost of purchasing and installing a home battery system to use with a new or existing solar PV system.
The program is now open and will remain so until funding is exhausted. You must apply for conditional approval before applying for the rebate. The application must include a quote for an Approved Battery System from an Approved Installer or another retailer.

To be eligible for a rebate, the battery system installed at your home must have conditional approval and be listed on our Approved Battery Systems list. There is a search tool at the top of the list to help you find the battery or system you are considering.

Safety is a priority, which is why for the Battery Booster rebate, your installer must meet minimum training and licensing requirements. You will only be eligible for a rebate if your installer is on the Approved Installer list at the time your Approved Battery System is installed.
